July 8, 2006 Duo Cruise
On Saturday, July 8,
2006, the Hiawathaland Corvette Assn. and Rochester Area Corvette Enthusiasts
partnered for a Duo Cruise-N-Dine to Lake City. Two Corvette Clubs were
enjoying a cruise in our machines with other corvette enthusiasts.
The day started with a few light rain showers, which did not dampen our spirits for a terrific drive. By 1:30PM we had sunshine and the day looking great for a cruise-n-dine. Eleven corvettes cruised with the following members attending: Jerry & Marcy Allen, Chuck & Mary Brenner, Don & Julie Buskovick, Tom Cashel & Jan Smith, Curt & Joan Dotzenrod, Jim & Marilyn George, Craig Haw, Bob & Beverly House, Bob & Carman Irelan, Dennis & Colleen Lund and Ron Steffens.
The scenery was
beautiful as we drove through Hammond and Millville on our drive to Lake
City. We made a stop at the Lake City
Marina to stretch our legs and socialize. Another corvette cruised by and saw
our 11 corvettes so he had to stop and visit.
He is a Lake City resident whom had considered joining a corvette
club. We encouraged him to join us on
our cruise to the ‘Skyline on Pepin’ Restaurant for supper; he did join us for
refreshments. We think the Rochester
Corvette Club gained a new member.
Dining was great on the
enclosed porch overlooking Lake Pepin.
There was a lot of conversation and camaraderie. Each table had one couple from each club so
we had a very intermixed social group. A
group photo was taken on the dock before our return cruise. We cruised the river road to Wabasha and
took scenic Highway 60 to Zumbro Falls.
A stop at the BP gas station in Zumbro Falls provided time for
refreshments and more visiting before some folks took Hwy 63 home. The rest of us cruised to Hwy 52 where Chuck
Brenner lead the Owatonna folks back home on some fun roads from Pine
Island. The traffic flow was
awesome. There were no intruders or
slow equipment on the road to hamper our cruise.
We had a terrific day!
